The Department of Energy estimates that a widespread conversion to LED lighting would save at least $44 Billion a year in electricity at current electricity prices.

Many companies have documented lighting electricity savings of up to 80% after they convert to LED lighting. The new generation of LED lights, fixtures and controls deliver improved lighting both inside and outside. This improved lighting means improved productivity inside and an improved and safer lighting environment outside.

From the outset we recognized that there a number of obstacles that have prevented businesses from converting to all LED lighting technology; some of these are financial and some are operational.

Our mission is to remove those obstacles through innovation.

Financial Obstacles

We have learned that the primary financial barrier to LED lighting is the belief that a complete conversion to LED lighting technology requires a substantial upfront capital expenditure. Many are unable to find the reliable Return on Investment model needed to justify those expenditures.

Performance Obstacles

Another financial barrier we often see is the need for a feedback mechanism that tracks the actual month-to-month energy impact of any potential LED lighting conversion. Too many projects sound good when they are presented but don’t have a reliable feedback mechanism to allow for careful verification over the entire payback period. Companies are told that LED lighting requires far less electricity and maintenance, but how can they know what the future energy and maintenance costs will actually be?

Risk Obstacles

Every capital project comes with some degree of financial and/or operational risk. Companies always look carefully at the risks associated with any major capital project and do everything possible to minimize those risks.

Financial Innovation

We determined that the best approach to solving the obstacle of capital investments is to just eliminate them. No up-front Capital Expense required. We provide a turnkey means of wrapping all the LED lighting conversion costs into a services agreement. Our financial innovation is “Lighting as a Service.” We provide an audit of the current lighting systems electrical consumption and then provide an investment grade forecast of the electricity savings available from LED lighting on a fixture by fixture basis. In many cases the monthly Lighting as a Service bill will be less than the former monthly lighting expenses. In other cases we have seen ROI periods ranging from 18 months to 36 months. All these savings are without capital expense.

Performance Innovation

Our innovation to overcome the obstacle of performance monitoring is to install a comprehensive lighting monitoring and control system that collects electricity utilization from the new LED lighting system and report in concise detail the monthly comparison of the old and new system while controlling the LED lighting.

Risk Innovation

Our innovation for risk reduction starts with eliminating capital expenses. We eliminate risk via a data driven report of the monthly performance of the LED Lighting system. We remove maintenance as a risk. We will maintain the LED lighting technology we install for 10 years at no additional expense to the customer. Finally, there is a potential risk that the financial performance of the LED lighting will not meet projections. Our innovation is to provide insurance from a major US insurance company that guarantees the financial performance of the forecasted savings. If, at any time, the new LED lighting system fails to deliver the monthly savings forecasted the insurance company will pay the difference between forecast and actual.
